WHO ARE THE COMMUNITY BUILDERS?
FTC was Built by Community for Community.
A letter from FTC’s owners…
Dear Community,
“You are rich”, we’ve been told, “…in relationship”. And we humbly agree. It may be impressive to say our own financial resources, efforts, intelligence, and skill opened the door to opportunities we’ve been given. What’s true, however, is that living in community has given us rich opportunity to courageously pursue purpose and passion because of the wisdom, generosity and encouraging support of others. We do not take this for granted. We are grateful daily and want to share this gift of embracing community with all.
As we built something larger than ourselves, we knew we wanted to build a place for community with our community. Because of our rich blessing of relationship, the professionals in our lives kindly went above and beyond their paid services generously giving their time, experience, and materials to support the expansion of Fort Thomas Coffee to become FTC at One Highland. We’ve partnered with local schools NKU and HHS to help design business center offerings and a new kid play space, respectively, inviting ideas greater than were found in us alone. We received furniture from family, flooring and conference furniture at cost from local residents, toys from community members and MOMs Club, and helpful connections from friends.
The brick wall inside FTC at One Highland displays the names of those who helped build this new community connection spot and favorite gathering place in 2022. Now that FTC is built, some have continued to ask if they too can contribute as Community Builders and add their names to the wall. And in gratitude and humility we say, yes!
We have a list of items and equipment not yet purchased, projects incomplete, and paid services we’d love to add to our routine of shop care as we first work hard to take care of our growing team and business expenses in this phase of business expansion. If you are interested in joining our community wall as a Community Builder, we would put those funds right use in further fulfilling the whole vision for FTC.
Sincerely,
Justin and Christine Smalley
